The Ahead is the second most ugliest MS after the Tieren and things become much worse with the MaskedMan’s Ahead which looks more like a Playboy Bunny than a musha. What the heck, the designer watched too much Kallen in a bunny outfit?
The O-Riser is nothing more but a cheap G Defensor remake and it adds more to the perception of 00 S2 as another Zeta new translation. Will the 00 fights to the end or it would be replaced by another transformable MS other than the Arios?

how about you try draw a space cruiser that gattai with a gundam, then i will say it’s still a cheap G Defensor remake,
or try draw a mobile platform that is not a GN Arms remake, which you said was a METEOR remake, which you said it was Dendrobium remake
SIGH, old folks has already made the outline first, it can’t be helped if there will be similarities in future designs
and if title of anime is the indicator, I don’t think there will be new MS for Setsuna (Kamille used Zeta until the end, probably 00 will be the last MS for Setsuna), and new MS will just drag the anime longer

Comment by justpassingby October 23, 2008 @ 7:14 pmThese scans remind of of how few Gundam 00 designs there are that I like – none of the 00 stuff shown made me in any way interested. I really wish they’d make them at least MGs rather than gradeless 1/100s. Gundam 00 mecha are almost perfect for their line with their sleek designs and places that you could see the inner workings through, and yet I don’t think they’ll even bother making any of them except Exia and maybe 00 Gundam in Master Grade. And even that providing they don’t make yet another RX-78 repaint or Zaku variation instead.
Back to the topic of Gundam 00 – Ahead is just another generic looking mobile suit without any interesting gimmicks or inclusions that would make it possible for me to care about it, 00 Gundam, while one of the better looking mecha from the show, would look so much better as an MG as mentioned before, Cherudim is basically a boring looking version of Dynames, and Arios’ transformed form looks like some kind of squid. And why didn’t they bother hiding his head somehow, anyway?
So if Seravee Gundam doesn’t turn out to hide something extremely fancy under that face/armour in general, that’ll mean the second season of Gundam 00 will have not a single nice Gundam design in my opinion, with possible exception of the titular mecha, depending on what accessory they’ll give him.
Now, onto the really disappointing part – Sinanju. I mentioned before that making the gold lines stickers would really ruin the kit for me, and it looks like this is exactly what’s going to happen. Damn it Bandai(or, more specifically, Katoki?), you use fancy computerization to create your kits, as delicate as these lines are, it shouldn’t be a problem for you to make them really. Of course, I can just use a Gundam marker(I hate stickers on open surfaces, particulary such that have to be applied with surgical correctness) and it’s generally more of a minor inconvenience than what I am portraying it as, but it’s still annoying and I wish Bandai would have spared us from it.
Comment by Terry von Feledae October 23, 2008 @ 7:37 pm@ justpassingby: No,don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make a stand against anyone; just that CV’s emotionally-charged tirade did contain bits of truth: the O-Riser dose resemble the G-Defensor, and Graham’s Ahead isn’t what I’d have expected for someone of his caliber and personality.
Regarding the Seravee’s backpack face, I think it’s still too early to make any assumptions. I’m generally leaning towards the Ahead and 00 in terms of design though; I favor them a lot.
Comment by thehangerbay October 23, 2008 @ 8:17 pmThe “Masked Man’s Ahead” could be improved for sure, but i don’t see the Bunny thing CV mentions, in fact, i see just some pseudo Samurai esque crest, i think that the clostest thing as Bunny ears in Mecha are the Antennas in the Patlabor Ingram, Peacemaker Zero and in the Personal Trooper Gespenst, and this ahead sure doesn’t have those.
I also don’t think that just because the Masked Man have a Samurai esque style, his Ahead should be some Ahead version of a Musha Gundam (which tecnically would be the most stupid idea ever in a serious non spin off Gundam Series like Gundam 00)
I rather have them apply the Samurai feel without technically giving it a “Samurai like” plating, since it would be out of place to do it.

I thought so, so let’s save the comments about the special gimmicks of any of the Gundams for either when they show them or after the series ends and we hadn’t seen them.

It’s absolutely more like ronin warrior style, not bunny ears.
“Will the 00 fights to the end or it would be replaced by another transformable MS other than the Arios?” Setsuna will not replaced 00 by another transformable MS because Setsuna’s combat type is close combat. And most of Gundam story has MS replacement for main character.
