Quite likely, but this is the same magazine that said Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus was coming to PS3. I’ll treat this news with a healthy dose of skepticism.

While releasing a remake and sequel of OG on a console created by another company as the handheld they were originally released on MIGHT BARELY be considered dickish, the Game Boy and PS2 were the highest selling consoles of their weight class at the times the games were released, so it’s just a case of catering to the majority.

Releasing Z2 on the PS3 would not be “dickish” – it’s releasing a sequel to a several year old game from an expired system on the shiny new sequel to that console. That’s like saying that Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 should have been released on the Playstation, which would have been lazy and weak of them, and would have driven the Alpha series into the dirt. You’re just being snippy because you don’t have a PS3.

Personally… I’m not too enthused about a sequel to Z. A new SRW game is fine, and on PS3 is great, but I wonder about how many times they can screw around with the time space continuum and not end up with the earth looking like a broken jigsaw puzzle. Also, I’d like to see Gundam 00 and Code Geass, and I don’t think Z would be able to cope that without a lot of problems.

I can’t believe that they managed to create a huge amount of new animation in such a short time, unless they had a lot of unused animation or are going to reuse Z’s animatioon this just doesn’t add up.

And I would rather see a new series, I hate how Z’s story is a mess or how the big plot point was so irerelevant.

Z’s story wasn’t really messy.It was actually quite good,compared to other srw games,maybe even on par with Alpha gaiden.Alpha 3′s story was messy as shit,but enjoyed it nonethless.

I dont believe this news, the magazine has been unreliable in the past and the leak said the PS3 SRW would be OG3.

I thionk they’re just guessing based on rumours

Z2? I hope they move the story away from Setsuko maybe make her as a side character. She was too damn depressing as a main. Rand was meh. Though Ganleon was awesome but needed more variety on his power tools… like a drill or pliers.

I don’t see how releasing Z2 on the PS3 is “dickish”. Infact, it was actually kind of amazing that NBG released Z, a new SRW game, on the PS2 that late into the platform’s lifecycle. So it is only natural that it’s sequel would come on the successor platform.

Besides which, the PS2 received a great deal of SRW games (infact, it has the most SRW titles out of all platforms), whereas the PS3 hasn’t had a single one yet in it’s nearly four year existance. Considering how many SRW fans have been clamouring for one, I would say this is way overdue.

I also don’t think releasing OGS/OGG was “dickish”, beacuse it was just a remake, created in celebration of the franchises anniversary.

Having said that, however, it would be incredibly “dickish” if OG3 was released on the PS3 or any of the consoles in general. Consoles already hog most of the important titles in the franchise. If they released OG3 on a console, it would take away the only notable timeline that was born and existed on the handhelds.

It is precisely for that reason, however, that I am glad to see that the rumours currently indicated the PS3 title to be a non-OG one. Personally, I am really hoping to see OG3 on a handheld system. I am sure many will disagree with me on this point, but I think it belongs there.

If its really SRW Z2 for PS3 then does that mean that Gunleon and Balgora will get upgrade again to even awesome looking robot? Or get new robots? Or become side characters and let 2 new Original characters (OG) more then or less then in just like simliar to SRW A3 game?

If it IS true,then hopefully they continue Rand’s story,as Setsuko was just not a good main char for me,the same with Arado or Ibis,great sidechars,but uninteresting mains.Naturally they should add 2-3 new main chars as in Alpha 2 and Alpha 3,where Kusuha was still present as a main(Rand should be the same),but they still added more new mains.BUT they should make Rands route much more interesting than it was with Kusuha!

The thing that makes me wary is the fact it’s for ps3. The reason alpha 2 and 3 could make it’s transition to ps2 was the japanese market of ps2 was doing well. Ps3 however due to the economy were not. Hence many original features were removed. The number of ps3 bought in japan than the US was significantly less. Which is why SRW Z was still made for the ps2 since the market of japan showed more people having ps2 than ps3. I dunno about now, but considering the fact that ACE R is made for the ps3, as well as the next gundam vs gundam, that there a significant amount of ps3 for the transition. However, I will still be suspicious of any note of ps3 srw until 2011, atleast a product realease. I still rmb SRW OGs had constant delays.

Eh… Hard to say. I can’t find any data for PS2 sales, but PS1 and PSX sold a total of 21 million in Japan within ten years. The PS3 is significantly behind that at 4 million after 4 years… But it’s FOUR MILLION CONSOLES. Of course, everything is behind the DS @ 30 million sales in Japan in a mere 5-6 years.

The only things I hate about the PS3 are High Definition and Downloadable Content. If they can avoid these two idioticities (unlikely), then it will be okay.

are you insane!?!?!!?, first they cant avoid High Definition, second, it will be godly to see srw in high definition, i think what you want to avoid is 3D perspective dont you?, it is possible to be 2D with High Definition(super street fighter II HD), if thats what you mean, i totally agree with you, 3D srw sucks

Yes but this year might have made the PS3 sky rocket in sale. Or that the PS3 got significantly cheaper due to removing certain original features like PS2 compatibility. You also have to take into account that some of those system were exported after being bought in japan buy websites such as playasia. I know for a fact that PS3 sales hit a slump when it first came out, which led to a surplus of 1st generations ps3. Unlike the case in the US where most companies made a transition to the PS3, many Japanese companies decided to stick to PS2 or even XBOX 360. Hence you often see alot of games remade for the PS3 afterwards. You also have to keep in account that these games were probably being worked on at least a year or two before PS3 sales made a rise and to make the sudden transition would have not only included delays, but also lack of utilizing the PS3 potential.

Also gaming was still on a relatively new begining then compared to what it is now. Which is why you see the huge difference

In the case of ACE R, you could already see speculations about the previous game the final as the last ACE for PS2. Believe me, it would be nice to see SRW on PS3, but they place that marker just to ensure the public, oh we will make srw games for the ps3. If it does come for the PS3, it shows confidence in the market. Especially given the Japanese economy over the years isn’t exactly sunshine and daisy.
