Semi agreed that it does help people who won’t buy but I appreciate getting to watch the episode now when everyone else does instead of having to wait for my dvd to arrive like I ended up doing with episode 1.

greengreen : Bandai makes far more money from merchandise than from DVD sales. Piracy will never kill Gundam unless Bandai stops making kits and figures, which won’t happen. There’s also no reason why you can’t download and then buy the release anyway.

Bandai makes more money from other merchandise -because- so many people pirate the DVD’s. There will be no kits and figures if there is no popular show/series/game to milk them from. Pirating only makes Sunrise/Bandai think there is a drop of interest in the franchise. Use your head and put these two together.

There’s no reason not to buy the release afterwards, but how many people are going to do that if they realise they can just torrent it? Realistically, not alot.

However, getting rid of piracy is impossible. I’m just putting this out there for people to consider supporting the companies.

(No I’m not working for Bandai or Sunrise lol)

Bullshit. Merchandising makes more money because there’s no use for two DVD’s collections of the same series while kits and figures can be made aplenty from one series alone. You’re not seeing this correctly,it’s a fact that Gundam DVD’s sell far less. People who like the series and can afford it will eventually buy them but kits are cheaper, more plentiful and provide a different appeal to the modelling crowd that typically likes mechanical models. Anyone can make a kit, you need a player for a hard disk collection which not everyone still has. For many people in the world piracy is still the only way they can watch any Gundam series. Take your strawman somewhere else. If DVD piracy was that bad then Bandai wouldn’t even bother making DVD releases for 6000 yen and something like three of four episodes.

amon never did try to justify “himself” pirating, he is merely saying that pirating wont kill gundam franchise. people are buying model kits even BEFORE they watch the series/movie. bandai earn more than enough from japan itself alone. i think you look down on gundam franchise, even without selling 1 dvd, they “can still battle for another 10 years”.

also, no, it is not possible to go on for another 10 years- do remember, if Bandai starts making money only off kits, and not selling 1 DVD like you proposed, animators will become jobless. Sure, Bandai makes alot of money, a portion of people doing the gunpla/toys make money, what about the animators? Creators who come up with the idea for shows, i.e. author of Unicorn novels? If they are not needed, they won’t get paid; 10 years? You kidding?

Oh please. Animators get paid shit as do authors and mangaka regardless of how well the titles sell. It’s well known that the Japanese Anime And Manga industry is notoriously awful for the authors as the royalties are like a drop of water in the Ocean and authors are continuously shat on for the sake of sales.
Shitheads like you think they’re supporting the industry or authors but you’re only fuelling the already draconic policies of companies that sell shit like one episode DVD’s for something like 5000 yen a pop.
Even if I had moeny to shit on such things I already drop enough cash for Bandai in kits and figures that I don’t need to justify any downloading I do. Sure, I download. Because Europe is such a Bandai void that even Namco doesn’t have a European branch.

You should take note that Amon is the one who took my two lines of anti-piracy and made it into a shitstorm. If anyone should stop, it’s blockheads who think piracy is justified because they can’t get it or can’t afford it.

You pirates can only do this so long as a decent amount of people who do resolve to buy the actual thing, continue to do so, and Bandai/Sunrise thinks DVD’s/BR are still worth getting sold.
You can -complain- about prices being too high, but you can’t say it’s wrong.
I can’t stop you pirating, but you should accept it’s wrong.

that was pretty long. I know why you may think my points are bad- because we do have conflicting perspectives, but the mindset of people pirating should also understand what they’re doing is wrong.
Some of you said you will also buy ____ when it comes out. But my point is not -you- it is pirates who don’t. Pirating itself is the source of those people.

OK- even if miraculously, pirating is justified. Support the company anyway, is what I would want to say.

I have never thought about your suggestion actually- because srwhotnews actually links to several blogs when new kits come out where they take a really good look at the kit. Official sites also don’t have anything beyond boxart, price, etc. Magazines also don’t go into that much detail.

Also, in your opinion, that if I have pride I won’t ever use this internet alias again….. wut. HAHAHAHA. I don’t really care.

another stupid “flame war about nothing”..pure objectively seen greengreen is right about the fact that pirating is a bad thing and that we all know that, at the same time have the others a point, because it is kinda contradicting if someone who pirates himself says that other people should support/buy, videos/games and what not, but that doesn’t mean that it is wrong what he says, supporting where you can is always a nice thing and your conscience is clean too (don’t know how to say it, my english is bad as..).
I for example pirate a lot, but if I ever see the chance to actually buy something I pirated I’ll buy it (which is hard here in Europe, even more with my limited opportunities..).
Nobody here says you people shouldn’t pirate anything, but at least consider buying things you actually have the opportunity to buy, if you like it that much.

Nope, you’re wrong. Piracy is bad whether I can afford it or not. When I can’t afford it, I don’t pirate. When I can afford it and I like it, I buy it.
You on the other hand…pirate because you can’t or don’t want to pay for something that is priced perfectly fine for many many people to buy, and you thnk it’s fine.
